Rav Shurin, zt”l, learned with Rav Yoshe Ber Soloveitchik at the Heichal Rabbeinu Chaim Halevi in Boston in the 1930s.

Rav Yisroel Shurin ztl is also the father of Rav Yitzchak Shurin who is currently the Rosh Midrasha of Midreshet Rachel v’Chaya in Yerushalayim – which is the women’s school of Darche Noam Institutions of Yerushalyaim.

The men’s school is usually known as Shapell’s.

He taught in Bais Yaakov HS in Williamsburg for many years. I believe he also taught in Chaim Berlin and had learned in Lomza Yeshiva in Petach Tikvah in the 30′s or 40′s
