When President Donald Trump was campaigning, he made sure to reach out to people of faith. Many people of faith felt issues that were important to them had been neglected by the previous administration.

Now, through Ambassador David Friedman, he is extending his reach to the people who are religiously observant in Israel including the haredi community. The haredi community consists of Orthodox Jews who live their lives according to the laws of the Torah and Talmud.

A haredi newspaper called Hamodia held at a conference this past weekend.

The well attended conference had many distinguished guests including leading government dignitaries. Friedman discussed how the U.S. Embassy is helping the haredi Jews, including women, become a part of the workforce. He said that the U.S. Embassy will form partnerships with the haredi community and are working in cooperation with a college to teach English to this community

Upon the completion of his speech at the conference, U.S. Ambassador to Israel, David Friedman was gifted sacred books by Dirshu founder, Rabbi David Hofstedter.

Dirshu is the largest Torah organization in the world and is working to bring light to a world which is suffering from social and moral decay. Although there were many different observant groups in attendance that day, Dirshu is unique in that it has an international reach.

David Friedman mentioned that he as Ambassador, is supportive of the haredi community. He feels that if the haredi community is strong so will the nation of Israel be strong. In addition, he said that President Trump is supportive of these efforts.

Most American politicians on the national stage have never taken an interest in the haredi community so this is why, this event is unique and shows President Trumps commitment to not just some in Israel but to all in Israel.

The previous administration felt more comfortable with secular Jews and advancing their agenda in Israel.

Rabbi Dovid Hofstedter noted that he is thankful there is now a U.S. administration that is paying attention to faith-based initiatives and to U.S. Ambassador David Friedman who is equally sensitive to the religious community.

Ambassador Friedman, an observant Jew himself, never felt that he had to give up being a committed Jew in order to be a productive member of the workforce and it seems that he is reaching out to other observant Jews to show them that they can be a part of Israel’s modern workforce while still be able to live a life committed to Torah.
