VIDEOS & PHOTOS: Thousands Attend Kabolas Ponim For Satmar Rebbe In Kikar Shabbos

[VIDEOS & PHOTOS IN EXTENDED ARTICLE]

Thousands of people gathered in Kikar Shabbos, Sunday evening, in a massive Kabolas Ponim in honor of the arrival of the Satmar Rebbe of Williamsburg, Rav Zalman Leib Teitlebaum Shlita.

Directly from Ben-Gurion International Airport, the Rebbe traveled to Yerushalayim, where he met with dozens of prominent Eida Chareidis rabbonim at the home of home of Eida Gavaad HaGaon HaRav Yitzchok Tuvia Weiss Shlita.

Following the brief meeting, the Rabbonim along with the Rebbe boarded a mini bus, which traveled to Kikar Shabbos. The bus traveled through the streets, which were lined with thousands of children singing, and holding flags. The Rebbe smiled and waved to the children from the window of the bus as it slowly made its way to the huge stage erected in Kikar Shabbos.

The Rebbe addressed the crowd, stressing the Shita of his great-uncle, the Divrei Yoel, against participating in the Israeli elections. A few other Rabbonim addressed the crowd Tzibur as well.

Following the gathering, the thousands of participants left in an orderly fashion. Some dumpsters were set ablaze after the gathering, but they did not seem to involve any Satmar Chassidim, as can be seen in the photos below.

Interestingly, despite some negative press reports, on Election Day (Tuesday), the Rebbe is scheduled to travel with his Chassidim to northern Israel to Daven at Kevarim, including Meron & Tzefas. Sources in Satmar tell YWN that the Rebbe specifically chose to make the trip up north on Election Day to ensure that none of his Chassidim are involved in any anti-election day incidents in Yerushalayim.

  1. Nice, but it still hurts.

Oy oy, you just wish there could be a Machlokes L’sheim Shomayim, where you don’t have to call all those who disagrees אשר כרעו לבעל, טמאים etc. Do they really think Rav Ahron and Rav Elyashiv Ztz”l weren’t L’sheim Shomayim? Does the giant sign have to stress that they were not “Gedoley Hador”? Why can’t they disagree respectfully…

  2. #4 In agreement.

These demos, signs and posters are called “Charedei Steven Spielberg” its drama, showtime and a media/journalist dream.. Try to ignore since its void in meaning while destructive to the ‘pleasantness of Toras Hashem’.

  3. Drama..
    charedie speilberg??
If you call the last night protest where thousands upper thousands of peaopple came out to hear the devar hasham, how would you call – the acording to u Gedoili Hatorah who rip each other appart the last 2 days.. What names?
If satmar doesn’t mean l’sham shumayim which this comes from the groisa rabbi in gooin R’ Yoel, why should I call you’re rabbis “”FIGHT” l’sham sumayim. You are self centered

  4. All of you who are attacking Satmar – what is your defense and explanation of the Israeli leading rabbanim attacking each other horribly now during the elections? Rav Ovadia Yosef; Rav Shteineman; Rav Kanievsky; they have all taken radically opposing positions regarding the upcoming elections.
As I see it, they are all entitled to voice their opinions and their reasons for them.
And that same entitlement should be granted to the Satmar Rebbe!

  5. A very main difference is Rav Ovadia, Rav Shteinman and Rav Chaim all live, bring up their children and grandchildren in Israel while SATMAR REBBE is a visitor who should be showing Hakaras Hatov to his host (Israel) rather then bashing its existence.

  6. Satmar Rebbe might be living in NY, but there are many Yerushalmi who follow the shita of the Satmar Rebbe zt”l.
As rebbe and leader of these Israeli citizens now, he has every right to reiterate the beliefs and teachings of his holy predecessors.
