Chananya Begun and New Sound Productions is proud to present a brand new concept: Featuring Mendy J, this is a new video titled Habeit – Reimagined.

Based on the legendary Abie Rotenberg’s composition, Mendy J delivers an incredible performance. His vocals truly capture the essence of what this song is – a heartfelt cry to Hashem. Take that, and add on Chananya’s well known cutting edge approach to musical arrangement, but an arrangement that brings out that emotion even more.

What happens is something that is truly astounding, combining various aspects of Jewish Music as you have never heard it before. This music video was shot in a way that brings out that raw emotion and creativity to the viewer. This is a song of hope, so let us be hopeful for Am Yisroel, even in the toughest of times. Uvechol Zos, shimcha lo shachachnu.

    I’M SORRY – TOTALLY INAPPROPRIATE!
DOES ANYONE STILL HAVE A SOUL THESE DAYS!
    A TERRIBLE COVER.

  2. ego says:

This has got to be the worst killing of a great song that I have ever seen. Truly talented, indeed!

  3. Kol Yisroel Araivim says:

Wow !!! Beautiful and different!! Good job.

  4. KRANBERRY says:

If you don’t like it don’t listen,it’s a matter of taste.

  5. chaimke 1 says:

    Very nice Mendy J!

  6. EZ from Flatbush says:

#1 and 2 I agree this song is totally inappropriate. I fail to understand how one can jazz up such powerful words like Habeit Mishamayim. And exactly what message is the nightclub lighting sending out? Also walking along the railroad tracks, is that supposed to represent the Holocaust? If yes then the song is not only inappropriate but also offensive.
I don’t think Abie Rotenberg would be very happy by what was done to his composition.
#4 you are right it is a matter of taste, and this one is in very poor taste.
Finally, Mendy you do have a great voice. I would like to hear songs that align the lyrics in a more appropriate manner.

  7. aviber says:

I wholeheartedly disagree with the first commenter. I feel this song has a tremendous amount of soul. Jewish music does not need to be one dimensional. The negative comments here are simply uneducated, just because you cannot understand and appreciate electronic music does not mean it is not soulful and a work of art in its own right

  8. hock a kup says:

How can everybody be mevazeh each other over a silly song?!?!? And then everybody is wondering why Moshiach is not here!

  9. RabbiYoni says:

I don’t mind anything aside from the fact that this singer should read the Nekudot properly.
    וראה – U’R'eh/ey. Not U’Ri’eh/ey.
    כצאן – Katzon. Not K’Tzon.

  10. KRANBERRY says:

#6 if it’s a matter of taste, saying its poor taste is your opinion and you have no right to decide what abie rottenberg thinks about it

  11. hock a kup says:

If abie rottenberg wanted to make the song that way he wudve! He made the song slow and Hartzig for a reason and it’s not meant to be jazzed up!!

  12. hock a kup says:

There is alot wrong besides for the nekudos! Is there anyone normal left in the world?!?!?

  13. Kol Yisroel Araivim says:

This is what is called a cover, covers are done all the time, and songs are altered to give it a fresh feel based on what the new singer feels. It is not meant to replace or disrespect the beautiful original. It is supposed to be a very different take on it. If you do not like it, don’t listen!

  14. geula says:

who is mendy J; I thought it was Mendy Jeruffi the israeli popular singer………….
I will not say my opinion about this cover……

  15. Moshe1994 says:

WE FRUM JEWS NEED TO CHILL

  17. kehath64 says:

    Great voice..

  18. Git Meshige says:

Next they will take Kol Nidrei and put a Disco flavor to it, so it sounds fresh and upbeat because of the generation we live in. Some things are best not to tamper with, and this is one of them.

  19. sefardi guy says:

His name is Mendy JACOBSON he is one of the best singers left in this world besides if u dont know about music pls keep yourself quite bec its a beautiful song I think that every one is jealous so every is saying that its inappropiate

  20. Not getting involved says:

As they say: “All publicity is good, except an obituary notice”

  21. sefardi guy says:

Mr.Git Meshige, you are “mishige” dont take it to another extreme. EVERY ONE SHOULD ASK MECHILA FROM MENDY IF YOU BELIVE IN GOD!!
