4 Dead, 70K Without Power After Upstate NY Storms

Severe thunderstorms rolled through central New York, killing four people, destroying or damaging numerous homes and knocking out power to more than 70,000 utility customers, officials said Wednesday. The deaths occurred in the rural town of Smithfield, between Syracuse and Utica, after the storms hit at about 7 p.m. Tuesday, the Madison County Sheriff's Office said. A fire broke out in a bunkhouse at the Munkatch boys camp in Kiamisha, Monday afternoon. Monticello: Vehicle Pursuit Ends With Crash And Parolee Arrested

On Sunday July 6, 2014 State Police at Liberty arrested Julio Palmares, age 23 of Monticello after a brief vehicle and foot pursuit in the Village of Monticello. At approximately 2pm a Trooper on patrol attempted to stop a 2006 Infiniti being operated by Palmares on Route 42 for traffic violations. The vehicle sped away and a pursuit was initiated. Monticello Police arrested Zaquarntri Legrand (56) and Esaw Wise (66) both of Monticello on Friday 7/4/14. Legrand and Wise were each charged with the felonies of grand larceny in the 4th degree (2 counts) and criminal possession of stolen property in the 4th degree (2 counts). Sources tell YWN Catskills that a building owned by developer Shalom Lamm, which will be housing a pizza shop, had its windows shattered this evening. Loch Sheldrake: Child Airlifted After Being Pulled Out Of Swimming Pool [4:30PM]

A 4-year-old child was just airlifted from Loch Sheldrake after being pulled out of a swimming pool. The near-drowning incident happened around 4:00PM Tuesday afternoon at Vacation Village. Catskills Hatzolah Paramedics were on the scene and requested that a chopper respond to fly the child to a trauma center. On 06/30/2014, Troopers from SP Wurtsboro responded to a reported car/pedestrian motor vehicle accident which occurred on ST-209 in Wurtsboro. The investigation at the scene determined that a 2009 Honda Civic, operated by a forty-eight year old male from Phillipsport, N.Y. was traveling north bound on ST-209 when the vehicle struck and killed a pedestrian crossing the roadway in the area of Porco Gas.
