4 Dead, 70K Without Power After Upstate NY Storms
Severe thunderstorms rolled through central New York, killing four people, destroying or damaging numerous homes and knocking out power to more than 70,000 utility customers, officials said Wednesday. The deaths occurred in the rural town of Smithfield, between Syracuse and Utica, after the storms hit at about 7 p.m. Tuesday, the Madison County Sheriff's Office said. On Sunday July 6, 2014 State Police at Liberty arrested Julio Palmares, age 23 of Monticello after a brief vehicle and foot pursuit in the Village of Monticello. At approximately 2pm a Trooper on patrol attempted to stop a 2006 Infiniti being operated by Palmares on Route 42 for traffic violations. The vehicle sped away and a pursuit was initiated. A 4-year-old child was just airlifted from Loch Sheldrake after being pulled out of a swimming pool. The near-drowning incident happened around 4:00PM Tuesday afternoon at Vacation Village.
