The owner of the Mobil Exxon station on Route 59 in Spring Valley says the driver of a Coca-Cola truck accidentally backed into the pump setting off a huge fireball.
The owner was able to reduce the damage by quickly getting to the emergency shut-off switch. "I was running like crazy when I saw it…the first thing that comes to your mind is that you don't want a disaster," says owner Ayman Jallad.

The Ramapo Police Department is reporting the arrest of Josiah Williams age 16 of New Windsor NY for the murder of Riccardo Barrett that occurred on June 9th ,2013 at #5 Hickory Street, Hillcrest NY.
Williams was arrested yesterday afternoon at a home in New Windsor by Ramapo and New Windsor Detectives with the assistance of the United States Marshal’s Service.

On Thursday afternoon, the Ramapo Police was called to reports of a two car accident on Grandview Avenue in Wesley Hills. The operator of one of the vehicles involved, exited the vehicle following the collision, and fled west on Grandview Ave.

On Monday August 19, 2013 at about 5:50 am, the Ramapo Police responded to a garbage truck fire on Sparrow Ave in the Village of Chestnut Ridge.

At approximately 1:00AM, the Town of Ramapo Police received a report of downed powerlines in front of 17 Bridle Lane, in the Village of New Hempstead. It was reported that the downed power lines had started a fire on the lawn of 17 Bridal Lane.

1 Dead, Several Injured In Palisades Parkway Multi-Car Crash
One person is dead and several others injured after an overnight crash on Palisades Parkway in Rockland County. State police say the crash happened on the southbound side of the parkway in Orangetown. Three cars were involved and several people were taken to Nyack Hospital with minor injuries.
Both directions of the Palisades were shut down from Orangeburg to Nanuet while police investigated.

Ramapo Police responded to Maple Ave, just east of Rt 306, in Monsey just after 5:00PM to investigate a motor vehicle accident involving a bicyclist, Wednesday afternoon. A police investigation on scene revealed that a 1998 Ford passenger van, driven by a 39 year old Monsey resident, had been traveling eastbound on Maple Ave attempting to make a right turn into the parking lot of a school building when a collision occurred with the bicyclist, the bicyclist was also traveling eastbound.

Suffern Mayor Dagan Lacorte will be removed from the September 10th primary ballot for Rockland County Executive, YWN Monsey has learned. An Appeals Court reversed the NY Supreme Court decision allowing Dagan Lacorte onto the Democratic primary ballot.
Mr. Fried, one of Lacorte's rivals, sought to invalidate some of the signatures collected to disqualify Mr. Lacorte from running in the Democratic primaries.
