Rockland - Lacorte Calls For Structural Change In Another Yiddish Mailer
Rockland County Executive Candidate Dagan Lacorte sent out another mailer aimed at Orthodox Jewish community voters. The Yiddish/ English mailer (seen below) notes how tough dealing with government has become. At the same time, Mr. Lacrote touts his record as Mayor of Suffern in making government become more efficient.
To dramatize the difficulties of the County's Government, the back panel of the mailer shows a broken down County bus on a flatbed on Melnick Drive in Monsey.

Monsey: Paintball Shooting Suspects In Court
The three people who allegedly shot paintballs and yelled out ethnic slurs at three Chaveirim Volunteers in Monsey, are due in court today.
Shashi Ramsaroop, his fiancée Lindsey Peaks, and her brother Demetrius Torain are facing hate crime charges.
Police say the trio shot a Chasidic man in the stomach with a paintball gun in the Orthodox village of Kaser.
The suspects could face up to 18 years in prison.

Child Struck By Vehicle in New Square
Ramapo Police responded to N. Garfield Rd. in New Square at approximately 8:55pm, Sunday evening, to investigate a motor vehicle accident. Investigation on scene revealed that an 8-year-old child (female) had run from her house on N. Garfield Rd. out into the roadway in front of an oncoming 2012 Honda Odyssey and was struck.

Tension in Ramapo Rises Following Hate Crime Attack Against Hasidic Resident
A hate crime in Ramapo, Wednesday night, prompted community leader to urge calm amid ongoing tension between religious and secular communities. Josef Margaretten, a 35 year old Hasidic resident in Monsey, suffered minor injuries from a paintball shot fired by three suspects who were taken into custody and charged with a hate crime almost immediately after the attack just before midnight Wednesday, The Journal news reports.

The company that publishes The Journal News in the New York suburbs has cut 26 positions, including 17 from its newsroom.
The Journal News Media Group, part of Gannett Co., says the cuts will reduce its employment roll to 206.

Spring Valley Satmar Yeshiva Forced To Stop 'Elephant Show'
United Talmudical Academy in Spring Valley channeled its inner circus yesterday.
The school brought in circus elephants to entertain hundreds of boys at summer camp. However, the village put a stop to the festivities when they said the school was in violation of a zoning rule.
The school was reminded about the law and the animals were allowed to stay for only a few hours.
Since the elephants were removed by the set deadline, no violations were issued.
