Mosquitoes Test Positive For West Nile Virus In Rockland County
Rockland County Commissioner of Health Dr. Patricia Schnabel Ruppert announced today that the first pool, or group, of mosquitoes to test positive this year in New York State for West Nile Virus (WNV) has been confirmed by the New York State Department of Health to be in Rockland County. The pool of adult mosquito samples tested positive for West Nile Virus in the Town of Clarkstown. Black Bear Wandering Around Airmont
A bear continues to wander around Airmont, occasionally stuffing his head into a garbage can looking for a tasty treat. Ramapo police don’t feel the four-legged bear poses a danger. ALERT: Monsey Residents Being Targeted In Scam
The Ramapo Police Department has received numerous complaints from residents about a phone scam going around the area. Potential victims get a phone call from a party claiming to be from the Internal Revenue Service. The party tells the person that they owe back taxes and if they don't go to the store right away and send them a Green Dot money order the local police will come and arrest them. New City: Overturned Truck On South Mountain Road
Emergency personnel are currently on the scene of an overturned truck on South Mountain Road. The road has been closed between Zukor Road and Sandstone Trail. The vehicle is reportedly a dump truck. Rockland County: Nyack Hospital Offers Free Breast & Cervical Cancer Screenings For Underinsured or Uninsured Women
On Friday July 18, 2014 from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, the Breast Center at Nyack Hospital will offer free breast exams, mammography, and if needed, pelvic exams with PAP tests for women ages 40 and over with no insurance or who are underinsured. Effective Friday June 20, 2014 The Town of Ramapo Police Department will be deploying Naloxone (Narcan) in the field with the Patrol Officers. Ramapo Police Officers have completed training on how to administer the antidote Naloxone to persons who have overdosed from heroin or other opioid prescription narcotics. Airmont: Drunk Driver Crashes Into Tree; Released On $200 Bail
On June 17, 2014 at approximately 5:45 pm a Ramapo Police Officer on patrol came upon a one car motor vehicle accident on Hemion Way near the intersection of Cragmere Rd., in the Village of Airmont. The Ramapo Officer observed that a 2013 Audi had collided with a tree. The investigating officer determined that the sole occupant of the car, Daniel R.
