What he is saying is that “binge eating” & overeating aren’t the same thing. Overeating is mentally normal, while “binge eating” is not. You might not have realized, but using the term “eating disorder” for overeating -states by medical definition that overeating is a mental disorder, which it is not!
Why did they have to classify “binge eating” as a separate mental disease? Because they found Bulimic patients who would just “binge eat”, but not “purge” (get rid of it somehow). So they decided to give it- it’s own classification. This isn’t what you call “Overeatng”!
