All else being equal, the larger group is definitely more likely to contain the best singer. And even adjusting for superiority of the smaller group, in this case since the smaller group is so much smaller than the other group, it is still unlikely that the smaller group contains the best singer.
Greater contribution to music does not make you a better singer, especially before recorded music. A person can be a great contributor to music without singing.
