I think this argument is wrong.
The reason a ”professional ” would be better is not because he is getting paid. One does not make one more knowledgeable nor more experienced
Since hatzolah’s response time is based on having so many members, and since I have never heard anyone claim that calls go unanswered, there would be no difference in the amount of calls taken And therefore no difference in experience.
So the only difference would be, are they eating donuts between calls or doing something productive.
If you can make a logical case that being paid to eat donuts makes a better emt, I would love to hear it.
Until that case is made though, I think that logically speaking, someone who is giving up their time is probably much more dedicated and motivated, than someone who is doing it for the money.
Anyone in the business world can tell you there are plenty of fully paid workers who do nothing but game the system.
Judge merit-on merit.
Don’t take the selflessness of hatzolah members and use it to knock them down
