I’m not sure what the rest of what you wrote is negating. That is my point too. They were upset to lose out on a mitzva, and used strong language to express it. Hashem was happy. Hashem is also very happy when we cry out for the Geula from the depths of our heart and are not lackadaisical about it because in truth we couldn’t care less… Aderabe the more we cry out, the more we show we care. And the more nachas we give Hashem, and cause Him to want to bring the Geula sooner.
