The ban on prayer in pubic school is only on the government selecting and leading prayers. Students and teachers are free to pray to their heart’s content – but they can’t require others to join them. The standard for student prayer is “reasonable accommodation”. The past practice of having the teachers lead Protestant prayers was the problem.
