Abraham came to realize G-d on his own as his father was an idol worshipper. The stoty goes that he broke all idols to pieces except the largest one. He put a hammer in its hand and said to his father that it became angry on the others and broke them to pieces. Judaism only started from Mount Sinai where the Torah was given. After Adam sinned by eating the forbidden fruit he was banished from Paradise and they had to discover G-d on their own.
