I agree with your overall point. But, whom do you speak of as a Navi 2000 years ago? Do you mean Hillel? Then, by comparison Reb Eliezer HaGadol was also a novi, and so on. Let us keep in mind that Hashem reveals to the neviim what will happen BEFORE it takes place.
