The gerrymandering has been a problem with both parties, although given that there were more Republican-controlled legislative bodies in the 2010/11 cycle, there were more Red states whose electoral boundaries were distorted to assure Republican control than blue states seeking to lock-in Democratic friendly district boundaries. When the Dems took control of both Virginia legislative bodies last year, they suddenly had questions about the wisdom of a bipartisan commission they had previously approved to limit future gerrymandering. After much debate, it was finally allowed to go forward but showed that political hypocrisy was still alive and well on BOTH sides of the aisle.
