Yabiah” Its called an aliyah for a bar mitzvah. Its sometimes performed by the regular gabbai, but in some shuls, the chazan comes up the amud to show off his chazanus while making the boychik feel like a real VIP through a really special “yaamod”. Not sure this was the minhag in the Alte Heim but it has really taken off here and in some shuls in EY.
