Avram in MD: Thanks for noting that my parody might not be clear. Simply put, MOST (not all) of these extended warranty contracts marketed via robocalls are a SCAM, a total waste of money and promise illusory coverage that will never cover the true cost of getting most repairs. They offer to cover a 10 year old car with 100,000 miles w/o any sort of underwriting or risk assessment of the car’s condition. The promise such great savings that they will be able to spend money on those items that were always beyond your means. If i had said “take the whole family to Disneyworld” rather than buying the world’s most expensive esrogim it might make the point more clearly. I thought the “free range Kaporos chicken” would be the giveaway but I guess not.i
