menctch, I agree. In most cases in Tanach, Jews were granted victory when they fought AND were following Hashem’s will. Interesting though how here arguments on two sides of the spectrum converge – those on a liberal side who propose to fight with no arms, and those on the other side who claim that their learning is substitute for military effort. It seems that wishful thinking and self-deceit are non-partisan.
