Moshe Rabbenu is really asking Hashem that He should double their current population (600,000) ככם, as they are now and do the doubling a thousand times אלף פעמים. This is an enormous number with 301 zeroes equivalent to 2 raised to the 1000th power. 2^1000 multiplied by 600,000.
