Actually the fact that we are “different” makes the shame and secrecy much worse that in itself being a self perpetuating catalyst to keep the cycle of addiction continue. The self loathing a frum Yeshiva bachur or Bais Yaakov girl has when they CH”V fall is much worse than a regular public school kid and that feeds the addiction tenfold. So in a way we have it worse. Same goes for a married frum man or woman.
