AAQ: As a privately-owned business with fiduciary obligations to some of the minority investors, El Al does a reasonably good job of accommodating the needs of torah-observant passengers without disrupting/offending the travel experience of the very large number of non-observant yidden and goyim who provide the largest percentage of their revenues. After decades of state-ownership and mismanagement under prior investors, the airline is now earning a profit (low by standards of other airlines) and is building up a cash reserve to finance a massive investment program to replace its entire fleet of Boeing aircraft. Having said that, there still must be some balancing of needs for reasonably priced travel options when as now, they are operating as a monopoly service provider on most routes.
