The Health Protection Agency has purportedly sent out a secret letter to neurologists warning them that the new swine flu vaccine might cause GBS (a brain nerve disease), just like the vaccine in 1976 did. In 1976, 40 million Americans received the vaccine – 500 contracted GBS and 25 died from the condition. The article questions why this is being kept secret. Various sources quoted doubt that the disease is serious enough to warrant a vaccine, and clearly believe that only those with serious health issue (who are highest risk if they contract the flu) should bother getting vaccinated.
