rwndk1: let’s say you can make a chasuna in the US for about 10k and that’s still barely within your means. Nothing left for support (or even “helping out to buy something”). This is the reality many people are dealing with. It’s not a matter of doing something simpler and passing the savings on to the kids, the tuition committee, aniyim, etc.
