Reply To: Why Haven't the Melodies of Dovid HaMelech Been Preserved?

I would speculate that the songs of Dovid Hamelech and the levi’im may have been forgotten because after the destruction of the Beis Hamikdash it brought those who knew them too much pain to sing them, as the pasuk says “eich nashir es shir Hashem al admas neichar”.
