Most cases of Acute Bronchitis are due to viral infections. This is why I preempted my comments with -“I don’t like commenting on medical issues without seeing them,”.
I don’t want to second guess your PCP -maybe you were from the rare cases of bacterial infectious causes, so he/she gave you antibiotics. A practioner has to feel your illness is caused by bacteria before they give antibiotics -this can be done clinically or by testing.
