I’ve seen the Kaliver Rebbe a few times. I once went with my wife for a bracha, and we had an interesting experience. My wife isn’t a big fan of rebbes not seeing women, and she doesn’t like having to do so through a mechitzah. We went to see the Rebbe together. The gabbai walks us into the room. The Rebbe was sitting at the head of a table, with chairs along the sides. The gabbai told me, “Go sit next to the Rebbe”. He then turned to my wife and pointed to a chair at the other end of the table, which would probably upset my wife quite a bit, although she didn’t show any reaction. The Rebbe called out, “No, she should come sit over at this end also, across from her husband.”
