You must be talking about the post-WW2 people, who were accepted as they are (and truthfully, no one can judge them). Or gevirim / kids of gevirim who are accepted, as long as they bring their wallet.
But a newcomer today? Trying to register in yeshiva? Forget it. Unless you want to be a Tuna. Even then, I doubt they would take in the kids.
