This thread reminds me of an incident I had a few years ago. A prominent Rov in my neighborhood spoke about how the “casual look” at work is a yeridah in respect, kovod etc.
I pointed out to him (it was during sefirah) that this casual look in the office allows me to sit in a bank office with a yarmulke and sefirah beard.
There was no reply.
