Mod – If chazal expressed their feelings about a particular trait or behavior, then we know that it’s important and we can react accordingly; otherwise, like you sort of indicated, it’s a subjective opinion and chazal couldn’t care less about blowing your nose into the street. In fact, while I consider it quite disgusting, chazal felt it was ok as long as you rub your shoe over the phlegm.
