Here he is punished by either being forced to marry her or if she declined to give her a year of financial support. In the secular world such an attack in contemporary times typically results in a punishment of decades in prison.

As far as this punishment being equally applicable in a case of seduction, is that the case anytime a man has any relationship with a woman outside of wedlock?
