It is normal behavior for newlyweds but it is not very nice, i work in a Yeshiva and i see this condition a lot in newly married boys.
It is somewhat understandable for months they have been showered with praise and gifts and sometimes they become a little self involved hopefully for the sake of your friendship this attitude will fade.
