I sold some gold recently and had a nice chat with the dealer. One of the reasons why gold is going up is the fear factor. People are willing to pay money to have some tangible asset in their hand in case the world goes crazy. That is why when you do sell gold, you get more for sovereigns than plain gold jewelry.
I would not buy gold in this economy right now, I would sell though.
