i think the font is jumping out of frank ruehl and giving you times new roman or arial when you hit the alt, highlight the whole area and make it complex fonts frank ruehl, that should get rid of the weirdo characters. now when you print to pdf and get weird characters, try to use save as in word, and save it as a pdf, see if it is still weird chards. You might give Cardo a try,
