GAW. Surely you dont think “torah” means something other than what hashem wants. Surely you dont believe “gedolei yisroel expects of us” means what they personally expect and not what they believe the torah expects from us. I think you are reading way more into this than you should. I also dont know what the preceding and following paragraphs say as well. Perhaps in the context of the entire letter there is no room for error.
