ReL brachos on food, my Rov told a story about a baal teshuvah who was riding in the car with a bunch of frum from birth guys. The A/C was not working and the day was muderously hot. They stopped off at a local grocery and picked up a six pack of Pepsi straight from the fridge. Each guy popped open a can, made a bracha, and then drank. This young man opened his can, closed his eyes, took about 20 seconds to say shehakol, drank a long sip of the soda and exclaimed, “Boruch Hashem for Pepsi!” His friends just looked at him, impressed with the kavana he put into that bracha and the true hakoras hatov to Hashem for all that He gives us.
