There is nothing to theorize about. And your supposition is incorrect. New Jersey’s oil refineries are in Central Jersey, not near the water. They weren’t damaged too badly during the storm. OTOH, New York’s oil storage facilities in Brooklyn and Queens are on the coast, right by the water. And they were severely damaged. While New Jersey’s facilities are up and running at near full capacity, New York’s are still severely crippled.
In summary, this is not a governmental issue. It is a matter for private industry to correct and fix. And they are working hard to get it back in order. All the posturing by the NY politicos are simply self-serving arrogance. They have almost no control over how fast this issue will be resolved.
