“Yehudah – You obviously have a chronic illness and I’m not going to ask you what it is. If you want to tell us fine, but what I want to know is how did you get a bedsore which progressed to sepsis?”
Long story short. I lived and worked in NY for a year. My job required extensive travel and running around. I was injured on the job but was told by two doctors that i was nothing. I finally went BACK to my Orthopedist who said I had to be admitted to the hospital IMMEDIATELY (I had a cracked femoral head, the bone that connects the leg to the hip). I had been walking around like that in excruciating pain for months. 6 hour surgery. Long recovery. Went back for a check up. surgery had failed. Moved back to LA. head or Ortho Trauma at major hospital did 8 hour surgery. Hospital mistakenly put me on the cardiac floor, not the orthopedic floor so I wasn’t moved for 48+ hours after surgery. That is how I developed a bedsore, and then sepsis. I had to have an entire debridement of my backside. Then three months later, the hardware in my led failed and I had to have another surgery to repair it. Then i got ANOTHER infection in the hospital and had to have a minor debridement of my incision site. Then, this infection…
Needless to say, this has been the worst two years of my life. Also within these two years my father (A”H) was niftar and my wife suffered a miscarriage.
But B”H this is a new year and I have high hopes that HaMelech will have rachmanus on me and my family and that all my past pain and suffering should be a kapara for not only me but all of Klal Yisroel.
My pain levels have been down and I was able to get to shul for shofar and davening. Hopefully this is a turning point and things will improve.
Without sounding preachy, PLEASE, even if you are going through tzaros, if you are healthy THANK HASHEM! If you can walk THANK HASHEM! If you are free of debilitating physical pain THANK HASHEM!
I am not on the level yet where I can thank Hashem for my pain and suffering but I know that everything He does is good and for the good.
