The actual story about the 2 hour bus is as follows (There was more that actually wasnt important before, but maybe now it is), I saw it in a book from Hanoch Teller

Rav Shach would ride 2 hours each way by bus to the Yeshiva, Some of the Talmidim complained that it was undignified for a Gadol to ride 2 hours each way and that he should get a drivers license and then the ride would be alot faster.

I think it was Rav Shlomo Auberbach ruled against the drivers license and it was better for him to take the bus because on the Bus he could learn during the 2 hour ride, When he would drive he would have to concentrate on the road and even though the trip would be alot shorter
