I have to say this – that word is a particular one that really should not be used by Jews, as it derives from the name jesus (yes, it really does, I am not making this up), and even the word “gee” or the expression “gee whiz” are from that as well. The name was often used as a curseword, and the abbreviated forms came into being as people stopped using the actual name to swear. There are people who even say “cheese and crackers” as a substitute for a stronger curse word. Just wanted to let you know, in case you didn’t.
