The Rabbinate is not a position for those looking to make money even though there are many Rabbonim who get paid well. Having semicha is also not enough to be a Rabbi. If you are not a respected and recommended talmud chochom nobody “Orthodox” will hire you. I think Conservative and Reform pay a lot better.
