It might depend on when you daven mincha. In some backwaters, they have such a problem getting a mincha minyan that they shlep out davening in the morning and have an elaborate kiddush in order to daven mincha before people go home for lunch. This would eliminate the cholent stain theory (unless they serve cholent at the shul kiddush) and the nap theory (unless the drasha is sleep-inducing).
