On the other thread (if a golem is possible), there were a number of posters who quoted some source that not everything is to be taken literally. So why not apply it to the issue at hand. If one does not have to believe a piece of Gemarah, I feel no need to believe what a bunch of irreligious bareheaded want me to think. Perhaps there was no independence.
