Rashi and Medrash are talking about true Manhegei Yisroel, not appointed politicians. And one more point, if I may. The Chareidi sector is far more tolerant of the not-yet-chareidi than they realize. If they (not-yet-chareidi) would take an honest look, they’d see it. It’s their own feelings of (jealousy, inadequacy, guilt, frustration) at play.
