We all know that a rainbow represents Hashem’s will to destroy the world, but will not due to his promise after the Mabul to bring a rainbow instead.
Last night in Missouri a major tornado suddenly hit a town called Joplin, in which 3/4 of the town of 50,000 people was destroyed with over 115 people killed. Shortly thereafter a –> rainbow <– appeared.
I let you, dear readers, draw your own conclusions.

Having said that there is no question that a natural desaster is cause for tshuvah, as Chaza”l said “lo nivreu raamim uvrakos aloo lefasheit akmimiyos shebalev”.

Does that mean that HaShem is always threatening to destroy the world at Niagara Falls (since there is always a rainbow there when the sun is shining)?

I think the “rainbow as a harbinger for disater” is only when its out of the natural circumstances (I think I read it in Meam Loez).
Still a great opportunity to make a brocha, and the time for teshuva is always ripe, but I don’t think its cause for panic.
