Can someone please explain why pretty much every tzedaka organization is doing this? Is it legit? Is there REALLY someone that will donate 3 or 4 times X amount, or is it suppose to “guilt” people into giving extra? And lets say its true, I cant fathom how someone will only pledge hundreds of thousands or even millions to a charity on the condition that a certain goal is reached and if not they get NOTHING! This is how they word it! So what happens to the money I give then? Do I get it back? What happened to giving “just because” without having any strings attached?

I can not make sense of it.

It’s a way to guilt people into giving money, bc in the end there’s an “anonymous” donor who picks up what wasn’t donated

    CA is correct.

Every campaign is always won, although sometimes you will see more ads making you think they are more desperate for help cause the campaign is closing very soon.

I will not be your LOR to tell you if this is stealing based on taking other people money more than they would normally give for just a one time help. But you can ask your LOR what he thinks.

Welcome to the generation of corruption and dishonesty. Where a person’s human physical mind I.e. Yetzer Hara will convince him in each situation that it’s not stealing. ( rather it’s using someone else’s American airlines card to save money on your flight or using someone else’s Costco card etc…)

You can also read their side at http://charidy.com/blog/demystifying-charidys-100-success-rate but it seems too buzzword intense.

For some reason you’re allowed to use the terrible internet to collect money for Mosdos. What a bunch of phonies!!!

There are so many organizations “competing” for peoples money they always have to come up with something new. 25 years ago people were asking the same thing about chineese auctions (entice you with a watch or sofa to give tzedaka?). Then people started questioning the types of prizes offered at these auctions (tripes to E’Y, 100 grand cash). This is just the next evolution.
