Mamdani, El-Sayed, etc. There is a trend of radical leftists holding major offices who also hold deeply anti-semitic views. They use zionism as a perjorative in a way of distinguishing good people from not good people. They really mean Jews when they use that rhetoric. Will our askonim go the route of the 1930s askonim who looked the other way and hope all will pass or do something. Maybe it’s time for all of us to move to Israel. We’re in a world where Satmar and Mamdani are on the same page. To the un-educated BMG alumnus the rhetoric sounds intellectually honest but it’s not if you read the tea leaves. Years of bending the knee to democrats in the name of “growing our mosdos” are coming to a head.

If you are Modern Orthodox, or ever merely Shomer Shabbos and Shomer Kashrus though not a Ben Torah – AND – you have no halachic objections to serving in the Israeli army (either due to non-accommodation of halachic practices, or holding that the creation of a secular Jewish state at this time is contrary to halacha) — YOU SHOULD HAVE MADE ALIYAH LONG AGO. It should be a no-brainer. If you are spending a fortune to keep kosher and pay tuition, and put up with high living costs in “frum” neighborhoods, you are better off living in Eretz Yisrael – unless of course the zionists would throw you in prison for refusing to serve in the army.

What the future in America will be is unknown. Assume the socialists complete their seizure in the “blue” states, but don’t seize the national government, it will probably be better for frum Jews to steadily migrate to “red” states, a process which is well underway.

akuperman, you do have a good point here, but pls do not look into things as a “user”. Put aside excesses like expensive simchas that some can resist, a lot of difference is due to different average incomes and taxation.

If Israeli taxpayers subsidize schools and other things in Israel , you are still paying for that, as a taxpayer! So, maybe Israeli socialism looks less scary than Mamdani’s as it subsidizes more yeshivos and less antisemites, but economics is the same. So, yes, if you are struggling in US, you will be better of at someone else’s expense, and if you have more income than expenses in US, then you’ll be zoche to give zedokah the old fashioned wa – not as a private donation, but as a tax obligation.

So, I would say if you feel you will benefit a lot from aliya – stop and do some accounting /cheshbon nefesh – are you going to collect tzedokah from other Yidden without a genuine need? Whether you are going to learn or have not enough income from work. (put the army aside for a minute)

But red states don’t give endless handouts, so expect to be on your own if you move!
