Think of a number from 1 to 10
Multiply that number by 9
If the number is a 2-digit number, add the digits together
Now subtract 5
Determine which letter in the alphabet corresponds to the number you ended up with (Example: 1 = A, 2 = B, 3 = C, etc.)
Think of a country that starts with that letter.
Remember the last letter of the name of that country.
Think of the name of an animal that starts with that letter.
Remember the last letter in the name of that animal.
Think of the name of a fruit that starts with that letter.
Do you have the fruit? If you don’t- then think of one quickly before you read the end- Ok, Is it an orange?

May 1, 2012 1:15 am at 1:15 am #871528AnonyMissParticipantYou think that since everyone has a “D” after the 5th step, they’re all going to think of Denmark, then kangaroo, then orange. But it completely doesn’t work! First of all, they can also use koala and say apple. But I actually thought of Dominican Republic which turned to cow, and then watermelon. Nice trick of yours though…
May 1, 2012 1:28 am at 1:28 am #871529TheGoqParticipantIt worked on me i got 6×9=45 = 9-5 = 4=d denmark kangaroo orange very cool!
May 1, 2012 2:45 am at 2:45 am #871530OneOfManyParticipantMultiply that number by 9

*ahem*
May 1, 2012 2:56 am at 2:56 am #871531moishyParticipantYeah I also thought of Dominican Republic, then cat, then I got to tangerine!!
May 1, 2012 3:25 am at 3:25 am #871532twinkleSTARMemberHey, it worked on me..That’s so cool!
May 1, 2012 5:33 am at 5:33 am #871533blablaParticipantthink of it-any number b/w 1-10 multiplied by 9 adds up to 9 so duhhh were all thinking of denmark and oranges
May 1, 2012 6:32 am at 6:32 am #871534amichaiParticipantworked over here.
May 1, 2012 12:32 pm at 12:32 pm #871535squeakParticipantthink of it-any number multiplied by 9 adds up to 9
IFYP
May 1, 2012 6:05 pm at 6:05 pm #871536OneOfManyParticipantEhhhh?
11*9?
81*9?
387*9?
May 1, 2012 7:12 pm at 7:12 pm #871537yitayningwutParticipantBlabla probably meant what OneOfMany was muttering under her breath (if I got that right – that is, that if you take any multiple of nine and add the digits and keep adding until you get a single digit number, you’ll end up with nine).
May 1, 2012 7:38 pm at 7:38 pm #871538midwesternerParticipant11*9=99; 9+9=18, 1+8=9
81*9=729, 7+2+9=18, 1+8=9
387*9=3483, 3+4+8+3=18, 1+8=9
And so it is with any whole number you can make up.
5555*9=49,995, 4+9+9+9+5=36, 3+6=9
123,456,789*9=1,111,111,101, 1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1=9
987,654,321*9=8,888,888,889, 8+8+8+8+8+8+8+8+8+9=81, 8+1=9
May 1, 2012 8:25 pm at 8:25 pm #871539OneOfManyParticipantWhat I meant is that you have to make some sort of qualification because it only *adds up* to nine when it is two digits. (I’m not sure if this mathematical semantics or grammatical semantics, but it’s semantics either way, so roll your eyes if you must. :P)
