Since many yidden say hallel on YH, I am seeking opinions if women must say a brocha when reciting hallel on YH?

After all, saying hallel without a brocha is simply saying a few chapters of tehillim, which could be recited every day.

So the only thing that makes the tehillim “special” for YH is the recitation of a brocha.

The nissim of YH can be in category of “af heim hoyu b’oso ha’ness” (they too were in that ness), or alternatively, as any other yom tov when women also say she’he’chiyonu and hallel with a brocha.

RG, Rav Pesach Tzvi Frank did not say Hallel at all. Even men don’t make a brocho כל הפטור מן הדבר ועושיהו נקרא הדיוט specially when it is a question pf brocho levatolo as you are.

Maybe we should institute a minhag of women saying tachanun on that day (even though they normally don’t) just to make it 100% clear that they aren’t tzionishe.

    I always say tachanun.

Only if they say kinnos on Yom HaShoah.

Clearly the reality is that the majority of men say hallel (- either with or without a brocha). The only ones that don’t say hallel is radicals that consider it Nakba Day. Since women were also included in this miracle, they too should say hallel, as we do on Rosh Chodesh and Yom Tov. Why is there even a question to exclude women?!

    Rbbitzen:

Not sure what community you live but the well populated community i live in, not the men or the ladies say hallel and definitely not with a brocha. And i dont consider it a radical thing!!

RG, You are ethnocentric. If people don’t follow your beliefs, they are radical. I quoted before from Rav of EY, Rav Tzvi Pesach Franik zt’l author of Har Tzvi who did not say Hallel at all on YH.

First off I disagree with your position that if you say hallel without a bracha it’s just saying a few chapters of tehillim. Sefardim don’t say a bracha on hallel unless it’s hallel shalem, that’s including Rosh chodesh and other y”t that you say hallel. Additionally Rav Ovadia Yosef says to say hallel on Yom haatzmaut without a bracha but that one should skip tachanun. While the rabbanut of the time paskened to say with a bracha. However since it’s safek brachot lehakel Rav Ovadia says it’s better not to. But to say that it’s terrible is stupid.

One should follow the shita of Ben Gurion. Ben Gurion didn’t say Hallel on Yom Haatzmaut.

Someone who says each day whole tehillim, but he doesn’t want to say hallel on YH, what should he do, skip th chapters of hallel?! That is radical!

beisyosef, did you look at the Yabia Omer tshuva (6,41) why the above author of Sefer Har Tzvi did not say Hallel at all?

    #1725223

Rav Tzvi Pesach Franik has radical halochos that are not universally accepted. For example he holds that if you are wearing tzitis without kavana (which during the day do you have 24 hr kavana) then the tzitzis aren’t doing the mitzvah, as if they aren’t there, and you are wearing a four-cornered garment without tzitzis. That is pretty radical in halacha.

RG, As mentioned you are a brocho levatolo using expressions like that makes you radical. The Bach happens to hold that their is a reason by three things tzitzis, tefilin and sukkos where the emphasis is kavono and without it, you are yotze.

“RG, You are ethnocentric. If people don’t follow your beliefs, they are radical.”
Laskern: he’s trolling. On this thread he’s an MO zionist, on some threads he’s Chassidishe, etc. Nobody knows what his beliefs really are. He might not even be frum for all we know. He has this thing of taking already divisive topics (drinking on Purim, Hallel on fake holidays, the 4 questions, staying up on Shavuos, etc) and doing a phony “frum-feminist” schtick. Just scroll through the threads for the last few months. The username that implies he’s a female is all part of the act. Part of me actually finds it really amusing.

Neville, The am a Chassidish Litvish Veltish Yeshivish Frumish Yekkish Heimish Vibeish Yentish Yiddena. That frightens you? I stand for halacha and love ALL yidden, even those that I disagree with. I argue fiercely and know vast amounts if shas and poskim (was a mesayem at siyum hashas). I also believe on kadesh atzmecha bmuttar lach – to increase in chumras and syogim. I follow the “klal Godol batorah” of Ahavas yisroel and denounce anti-semites, even “frum” sonei yisroel. And I do not fit into a cookie cutter mold because I an uniquely me.

I meant to say the Bach’s view brought down by MB (8,19) is ‘not’ yotze.

    Re: increase chumras
Shhhh….You should keep that a secret.
” lo kol harotzei litol es Hashem, yitol” and as Rashi explains , not to be ” michezei k’yohureh”. (Mishne Brachos16)
Unless you ‘re the real deal, in that case , chumra away.

    #1725946

We are always adding chumras – making seyogim, doing extra beyond the minimum. Example taking in shabbos earlier than zman. Keeping rabbeinu tam on motzei shabbos. A better hechsher. Added zehirus. Kollel forever. That’s what we do!

    Edited – enough already

SA O’CH 261,2 paskens like the R’T motzoai shabbos. It is not a chumra, look at the Minchas Kohen in great detail. Erev Shabbos we have Tosfas Shabbos.

    No.

They should not make a bracha.

It’s a mitzvas asei she’hazman grama. They are therefore patur.

I do not know where you are from but no one in my community says Hallel; we say the normal davening for that day.

    #1726359

adocs – “It’s a mitzvas asei she’hazman grama. They are therefore patur.”, just like Chanukah or Purim which are “mitzva she’hazman gerama” and yet they are NOT pottur, but chayuv, because “af hein hoyu b’oso ha’ness”.
