Does anyone use their self-cleaning oven to do biyur chometz? Works much better than the conventional fires, – on self-clean, the chometz gets burned to ashes!

Plus, the clothes don’t smell from smoke and if it’s raining – no problem.

    So why not?

Is it a “real” minhag to only do biyur chometz in an open flame ?

Doesn’t it cause a lot of smoke in your kitchen? My oven smokes on self clean even if there’s nothing in it. I’d think that having food in it would only make it worse, and can also potentially be a fire hazard.

The Mishna berurah says the minhag is to do it in the courtyard and also not in an oven

klugeryid – yes that is the custom, but one may use the oven and even derive benefit from it, as clearly stated:

445:11 โ€œWhen destroying the Chametz prior to the 6th hour, [being] that the Chametz is still permitted in benefit, one does not need to make a separate flame [from that of his cooking oven] for the Chametz, and he rather may burn it in his cooking oven, and use its heat to cook with, as well as he may get all other types of benefit from it. Furthermore, even after the 6th hour one may continue to benefit from the heat derived from the Chametz if the Chametz has already been burned, before the 6th hour, to the state of being inedible even to a dog. Nevertheless, the custom is to burn it separately [from ones cooking oven, and not benefit from it,] even when burning it prior to the 6th hour.โ€

    Right.
    And your point is?

You asked if one may burn their chametz in their oven and he yes why don’t people do it

So I quoted you a mishneh berurah that addresses both points.

I wasn’t hiding the rest of the piece.
I Gave you the exact place where to find it.
I left that part out as it was not germane to the topic.
The honest thing to do would have been to say thanks.
Or to say I was trolling and didn’t think anyone would catch me.
But just to throw in other random pieces of information to make is seen as if I tried to put one over on you and got caught, is just
    Transparently disingenuous

I bow in gracious thanks and acknowledge your wisdom and scholarship. Your yeshiva tuition was well spent and may you continue to grow in gadlus. While I am disingenuous, you are pure genius. You got me and I hide in shame. Happy?

Haha, And the condescending tone was because he was right, or because you were wrong?
    Wow, it’s *that* hard, huh?
